Nutrition and Health Challenges

Are you having difficulty finding foods you enjoy and can tolerate that are healthy and nutritious for you due to your recent health challenge or setback?

I can empathize with you as someone living with a chronic cancer illness who had to modify her diet and nutrition. It has been a continual struggle for ten years since having cancer. Each time I change a chemotherapy treatment, I have also had to change my diet.

My cancer illness resulted in me having to radically change my diet.

I offer support and guidance to help you find nutritious foods that you have access to that are healthy and nutritious for you.

My Diet and Nutrition program includes recommendations and resources that can support your efforts to develop and maintain a healthy diet.

My Exprrience with Diet & Nutrition

I have always maintained a healthy diet and nutrition. Part of my training is diet and nutrition. I was surprised to learn how little I knew about how the myriad complications from illnesses, stress, and lifestyle can impact our lives.

My cancer experience has taught me much and changed my view about maintaining and developing a healthy diet and nutrition for any condition. It has been an eye-opening experience that I want to share with my audience.

As a health coach, I am responsible for informing, educating, coaching, and inspiring people to improve their health and wellness. Diet and nutrition play a vital role in our quality of life and well-being, and one of the programs offered by DeFord Health Coaching.

Regardless of your circumstances or condition, finding a diet and nutrition suitable for you and your situation is possible.

First, developing and maintaining a healthy diet and nutrition takes effort, patience, and a willingness to take steps toward holistic improvement in your health and well-being. You can take many steps to become aware of how to make healthy diet and nutrition choices to support a healthy body and mind.

How informed are you about the two types of sugar and how they affect your body’s system? Are you current on nutrition and water’s role in keeping you healthy and hydrated?

Sugar Cravings

Let’s take a look at the good and bad sugars:

Do you often get sugar cravings?

These cravings can result from a poor diet, dehydration, stress, and inadequate rest.

Giving into these sugar cravings can wreak havoc on your immune and cardiovascular systems, triggering inflammation, harmful cholesterol, and triglycerides in your bloodstream, which are all setups for heart disease.

If you struggle to control your intake of simple sugars, the type of sugars in sodas and baked goods, you should take a close-up look at the triggers that force you to give in to the craving.

The bad news about simple sugars is that they spike your sugar levels and, over time, lead to insulin resistance, a precursor for diabetes.

Combining sugary foods and a high-calorie diet is a significant factor in obesity and unhealthy diet habits.

Experiencing Grief and Loss

If you are experiencing the loss of a loved one, a career, or a relationship, and you have turned to food to help you escape the grief. You realize that isn’t the solution. There is more you can do to help yourself. You want to be healthy, feel good, and have a good life.

DeFord Health Coaching programs and services help people like you overcome difficulties and achieve their desired lives.

Carbohydrates

It is essential to understand the role of the other type of sugar, complex carbohydrates. Complex carbohydrates are starches found in pasta, potatoes, and vegetables. Our bodies digest them slowly, bypassing the spike in sugar levels, and utilize them as stored energy in glucose.

Your diet must supply adequate amounts of carbohydrates to maintain balance and give you energy for physical and mental stamina.

Protein, Fiber, Healthy Fats

Getting sufficient protein, fiber, and healthy fats at each meal is crucial to keeping you well-nourished and healthy. Of course, there are exceptions to this diet plan, and my own experience put that to the test.

Tolerating Certain Foods

If eating certain types of foods is causing abdominal distress, and you have difficulty tolerating them, it is clear that you have to avoid them. So what’s the alternative? I could not handle fiber, which included vegetables, foods with seeds, and skin. It was a difficult time, but I sought help and the support of several dietitians. In the end, I had to advocate for myself.

Asking for Help

I encourage you to do the same but within your limitations and knowledge about your present condition. Ask for help if you need it. A holistic approach to living your life is critical to connecting with yourself and understanding your needs.

Living Holistically

DeFord Health Coaching encourages you to live holistically and works with you to inspire you to make this a healthy habit.

The goal of the DeFord Health Coaching diet and nutrition plan, or anyone’s diet plan, is to ensure you consume adequate amounts of protein, fiber, and healthy fats at each meal.

Mindful Eating

You should know the importance of mindful eating, a healthy habit that helps you slow your eating, savor and enjoy your meals, and make healthy nutritional choices.

Habit Loop

You can overcome sugar cravings by breaking the habit loop with effort and persistence. Please reference my healthy habits page for more about habit loops.
